Die Art ist sehr variabel was Blütenfarbe und Bedornung angeht. Deshalb wird eigentlich die Feldnummer empfohlen, jedoch wird kaum ein Exemplar mit dieser angeboten.

Thelocactus setispinus mit Knospen (2.7.) und mit Blüte (9.7.):

Kann übrigens leicht ausgesät werden. keimt und wächst unproblematisch und ist deshalb auch für weniger Erfahrene geeignet.
