Does anyone know of documents or literature about epiphytes and benificial microbes such as bacterias and Mycorrhiza? I use these in my soil mixes with great results but have read very little in the way of scientific evidence. If you use thes post your results.

I imagine so, you outta see what I get for translation German-English. Most of it makes no sense. Thank you for translating correctly for me, I feel bad speaking English on a German forum but I only know a few German words and most aren't appropriate for public use.

If you would like I could help you with English and maybe you could help me with German. In English what foreign people learn is more technical or British English but I speak whats called American English which is much harder to learn because we have done away with rules for communication. Such as 1 word have 4 different meanings which are unrelated to each other.
Example: Run
1) to actually run down the street
2) to go to get drugs
3) a tear in womens leggings
4) to avoid capture by police

I would love to help you with some English if you could help me with German.

Hi Joe ! You wanted to know of mycorrhiza, I don't know the perfect english word for Pilze, so I say mushroom. I try to write You that in english, but its hard so I also write it in german, so You can translate what You not understand in my english version.

Haage mixes there own ground (?) for epiphytic plants, whit hands. So the microfauna is still alive and activ. If there are some mycorrhiza-mushrooms or not, I don't know for shore.

I have only 3 epiphytic cacti (?) and I saw mushrooms - after 1 year - but this where no mycorriza-mushrooms. I repotted my Cacti in new ground and then I took Euparen against Mushrooms. The Mushrooms were
Sclerotium rolfsii. Very dangerous for most plants.

Haage mischt die Erde für Epiphyten von Hand (mit den Händen). Die Erde ist nicht gedämpft oder behandelt, die Micro-Organismen bleiben dabei intakt. Mycorrhiza-Pilze könnten theoretisch vorhanden sein, ich weiß es aber nicht mit Sicherheit.

Ich habe 3 epiphytische Kakteen. Pilze habe ich nur einmal gesehen, es waren keine Mycorrhiza-Pilze. Ich habe sie umgetopft, die Erde erneuert und mit Pilz-Bekämpfungs-Mitteln (Euparen) behandelt.

Are you saying that Kakteen-Haage mixes their own soil (Erde) with Micro-Organismen growing in it? Do they add it themselves or is it naturally there?

I use these in my soil:

Mycorrhiza Glomus mosseae, Glomus intraradices, Glomus clarum, Glomus monosporus, Glomus deserticola, Glomus brasilianum, Gigaspora margarita, Pisolithus tinctorus

I also use 4 species of Rhizopogon and 5 species of Algae, 2 species of Protozoa, and 2 species of nematode. All of these are beneficial.

Yes, they're mixing their own soil for epiphytes. Since they don't heat or otherwise sterilize it, funghi might be in it naturally, but they don't add any. As far as anybody here knows, that is. To know for sure, you should ask Ulrich Haage directly.
